OKEMOS, Mich. — The 5,500-member Michigan Dental Association has expanded its government affairs team with the promotion of April Stopczynski, of Charlotte, to the new position of manager of access and prevention.

In her new role, Stopczynski will be working on issues involving community water fluoridation and access to dental care for underserved populations including children, the elderly and veterans. Her previous position was public affairs and government/insurance affairs assistant for the Michigan Dental Association.

“We are very excited to have April taking on these new duties and responsibilities,” said Bill Sullivan, director of government and insurance affairs for the association. “She brings a wealth of experience in the access to care area and will be a valuable resource to the public and the profession on these matters.”

Stopczynski began working at the Okemos-based association in 1998.
