OKEMOS, Mich. – The 5,500-member Michigan Dental Association has hired Jenny Armistead, formerly of Port Huron, as director of marketing and communications. Armistead began working at the Okemos-based association on Oct. 27.

In this new position, Armistead oversees MDA marketing activities, including the statewide public education campaign, marketing products and services, market research, media relations, social media, as well as public relations activities and dental health education. Armistead will also be a resource to the association’s 26 component dental societies and will develop marketing and practice management resources for members.

Armistead formerly was employed by Advia Credit Union in Port Huron as its marketing manager. Advia was formed when two credit unions merged, and she was responsible for the brand launch of the new organization. She is a 2004 graduate of Central Michigan University and a native of Sandusky, Mich.

“We are very pleased to have Jenny on the MDA staff,” said Karen Burgess, CEO/executive director for the dental association. “She brings many new ideas and new expertise to our association, especially in branding, digital marketing and social media. This will be especially important as we launch a new statewide initiative early next year to educate the public about the connection between oral health and overall health.”
