OKEMOS, Mich. — A veteran Michigan Dental Association executive, Grace DeShaw-Wilner, CAE, received Honorary Fellowship in the American College of Dentists at the group’s annual meeting this month in San Antonio, Texas.

Honorary Fellowship is bestowed on individuals who do not hold a dental degree but who have significantly advanced the profession of oral health and have shown exceptional leadership in areas such as education, research, public health, administration, public service, or related fields of health care.

This is the highest honor that the American College of Dentists awards to non-dentists. She was nominated for the award by several Michigan dentists.

DeShaw-Wilner has worked for more than 30 years at the 5,500-member Michigan Dental Association, which is based in Okemos. She currently serves as Managing Vice President for Professional Affairs, overseeing the association’s governance, professional review, and human resources functions. She is a Certified Association Executive.

She and her husband, Paul Wilner, live in Okemos.
